ASME-MN: Tour and Technical Discussion at MEDRAD International/Possis
Please join the Minnesota Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers
for a tour and technical discussion at EDRAD Interventional/Possis
9055 Evergreen Blvd. NW Coon Rapids
5:30 Registration 6:00 Tour MEDRAD Interventional/Possis designs and manufactures a line of Thrombectomy Catheters used for removing thrombus (blood clots) from blood vessels. These unique catheters utilize a high pressure (8,000 to 12,000 psi) saline jet stream directed through orifices in distal tip of the catheter shaft. These jets generate a localized low-pressure zone (Bernoulli Effect) that results in thrombus entrainment and fragmentation. These jets also provide the driving force that evacuates the thrombus particles through the catheter and out of the body.
